Is That a UFO?

There are various, controversial theories regarding alien abductions and UFOs that have been debated for countless years.  The question is, do these alien abductions and UFOs truly exist?  Some may say that there is concrete evidence for believing in their existence, such as first-hand experiences and scientific experiments, while others may say that these paranormal phenomena are merely myths.  However, the combination of firsthand experiences and research in favor of the existence of UFOs and alien abductions are extremely convincing.  People have talked about their personal experiences with what they believe was a UFO which will correspond to the theory of how UFOs and aliens are existent.  People are still indecisive about believing what is true or not, but after reading and researching different explanations, there might be a conclusion to the questioning.   Regardless of how much research has been done over the theory of aliens and UFOs there is also people doing research to debunk the belief.

The air force’s Project Sign committee made their first conclusion about UFO’s but then they stated, “UFOs were not extraterrestrial spaceships, but rather astronomical objects and weather balloons.”  The committee contradicted themselves by at first, saying that UFOs were real and then saying that they were just misunderstood by common technology (Tribble 2-3).  A small number of sightings remain “unidentified” after scientific investigation according to almost all research efforts.  The researching teams collected photos, films, and multiple witness reports of objects, just to name a few (Unidentified Objects Jacobs 255).  Overall, the committee tried to make a conclusion that stated that UFO’s were simply just a myth, and that they didn’t exist.  A partial list of possible natural, engineering, and psychological cause that have been suggested to explain UFO reports include air force jets, ball lightning, balloons, birds, meteors and planets, just to name a few. There are so many people trying to research on this theory, yet some of them claim that it is very challenging to assemble any hard evidence.
Many people have claimed that they have experienced a UFO sighting or an alien abduction.  According to a number of people from California to the Midwest in 1896, the first UFO sighting was recorded.  They reported seeing a mysterious aircraft, but no one went into full detail or researched about the sighting (Tribble 1).  Many people said that the reported sightings were optical illusions or a misinterpretation of common technology.  There were different conclusions yet, in 1948 the air force’s Project Sign, concluded, “UFOs were real, but were easily explained and not extraordinary” (Tribble 2).  According to the air force’s Project Sign, UFOs were something common and not mundane.  Some people believe that if they see a UFO it’s something that occurs often and may occur again. The fact that people think that UFO’s and aliens are something that is common and mundane simply states that they’ve claimed to have an experience with them.

Helene Smith is also an example of someone who believes that they’ve seen an alien or experienced an alien abduction.  She is spiritualist medium, who has claimed to have numerous journeys on Mars.  During these adventures she claims to be in a psychic state outside of her body and has learned how to speak the Martian language (Baker, 155).  The credibility of the stories that people state are very questionable, yet it is very hard to just come up with certain ideas that are said by more than one person.  The most extraordinary characteristic is the extent to which people imitate what they claim to have seen in their dreams or outer body experiences.  The more different people claim to have the same ideas, the more credible the theory of alien abductions and UFO’s become.

The controversial theories, ideas, and beliefs have really taken a toll on peoples credibility on the theory of alien abductions and UFO’s.  Regardless of how scientists and researchers try to experiment and come up with conclusions on how the theory is false, there is still no evidence that truly debunks it.  The combination of firsthand experiences and research in favor of the existence of UFOs and alien abductions are extremely convincing. The theory of alien abductions and UFO’s has been around for many years, and more sightings have been recorded.  It’s difficult to blame a UFO sighting on someone’s hallucinations and modern technology.  Researchers have for many years listen to people’s experiences, and conclude that there isn’t an excuse as to why people have the same type of familiarities and ideas with aliens.

  1. To simply state that UFO’s are true because there is captured video and photography of unexplained lights in the sky is ludicrous. I myself have seen random lights in the sky, and can quite easily say that the lights I saw cannot be UFOs. Helene Smith, the “spiritualist medium”, is mentioned as knowing the Martian language. Considering no life exists on mars, or at least as far as the human race knows, how can she say that she has learned the Martian language, and moreover, traveled to mars on her spiritual journeys. Dare I say it, this sounds like it is coming from the mind of someone slightly insane.
The video provided called “Best UFO sightings of 2012, AFO” showed objects floating in the air. These “UFO’s” looked similar to balloons I’ve seen floating around car dealerships. The lights that blink and are far off in the distance cannot be labeled UFOs because they simply cannot be seen in detail. The second video about UFO sightings in Jerusalem is even less clear and shows almost no noticeable change. The frame that is of interest shows what looks like a streetlight turning on an off. This cannot be deemed a UFO, which as mentioned earlier would just be ludicrous.
Most importantly, you mention how after all this research done by scientists, there is nothing that truly “debunks” the idea that UFOs exists; Unfortunately, there isn’t really anything that proves it either. Sure there are photos of what people call UFO’s, and sure there are videos of lights or flashing objects in the sky. These don’t provide enough proof showing the existence of UFOs. Until there is concrete evidence, or at least detailed evidence of a UFO, it cannot be said that UFOs exist.

  2. Whether there is evidence in the photographs and videos you displayed are true are false, it is still hard to tell if any of it is really accurate. I'm on to be inclined to believe that there are other life forms out there, but seeing things from the sky that are shaped like UFOs does not mean that they are. It could be a star in the sky. We obviously cannot tell because it's thousands of miles away. Even with the advancement of technology, not even a telescope could detect one easily.
How can this Helen Smith person know Martian language when there is no life on Mars, let alone travel to Mars? There is no way a human can survive on a planet with no oxygen. That's clearly the reason why NASA has been sending robots there instead. Of course, with the recent news, that doesn't diminish the fact that it is possible that there once was life on Mars. However, it probably was many, many years ago, so that would make this woman's statement invalid.
While your argument does include some evidence that can somewhat suggest that UFOs are real, there is nothing that is strong enough to make your argument valid. It is a difficult thing to prove, and there still needs to be more research done before anyone can make a solid argument. There needs to be more information before people can start making an argument on this subject.
